An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our CAMHs team within the children's secure estate at Wetherby YOI.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary and multi-agency team. This is an opportunity for you to develop within a service that is embracing positive change and developing pathways of care to meet the diverse needs of children within the secure estate.
You will be able to embrace the fast pace of a Secure setting and the value of working within a multi-disciplinary team, that promotes a holistic approach to caring for children within a complex environment. You will support the development and embedding of an Occupational Therapy service within the secure estate which will enable you to utilize your core skill set in Occupational Therapy to implement a pathway that meets the identified needs of the population. You will have sound Occupational Therapy assessment skills and be able to utilize these to develop plans of care and guide others on implementation.

Main duties of the job
HMYOI Wetherby is the largest secure provision in the country for young males aged between 15 and 19. As part of the service, there are two units that provide enhanced provisions for children identified with more complex and challenging needs.
The CAMHS team provides initial screening for all children entering the secure estate, in order to identify individual needs/risk and refer appropriately within the service. We provide an MDT approach to the assessment, formulation, and intervention planning for children, tailoring individuals care pathways to best meet their identified need and achieve the best possible outcome for them. We work to ensure that the team around the child is working together, with the child at the centre.
As a service, we are involved in all transition and discharge planning, promoting continuity of care and sharing of information.
There will be opportunity to raise awareness and knowledge around Occupational Therapy and the value of this in enhancing the experience for children and improving outcome.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be part of a cohesive and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team. You will be involved in providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and treatment for individuals receiving in-patient care enabling service users to engage in a wide range of individual and group-based treatment activities. You will be actively involved in the promotion of occupational therapy within the service area.
The post holder will be part of a well-recognized service that places emphasis on staff support and professional development, and you will be expected to participate in staff training and supervision.
To manage an individual caseload, providing Occupational Therapy assessments for service users receiving in-patient care and within the community, prioritizing clinical needs and providing an effective service.
To work with service users to identify Occupational Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan, using occupational therapy assessment tools based on current evidence-based best practice.
To plan and implement a client-centered Occupational Therapy treatment programme on an individual and/or group basis, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
To monitor, evaluate, and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
To demonstrate a broad level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the client's social and physical environment.
To be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy advice in the multidisciplinary team assessment of service users and carers to ensure that an integrated approach to assessment and treatment is achieved and maintained.
To work proactively alongside ward staff, community agencies, and voluntary agencies to provide a seamless service for service users.
To maintain an effective communication network within the team, and to liaise with other agencies and disciplines from the voluntary and statutory sectors to ensure that service user needs are met.
To maintain up-to-date service user records and activity data in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
To provide an Occupational Therapy perspective in multi-disciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, clinics, and case conferences as required.
