About the Role
The QS will take full responsibility for overseeing all quantity surveying activities related to civil engineering and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) installation projects. This role involves managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring cost control, contract management, and value engineering while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with stakeholders and provide expert advice on cost-related matters to optimize project outcomes. The role is at the forefront of designing and delivering an expansion strategy to grow the team as the business expands across the UK/EU.
Responsibilities
* Project Management: Oversee the cost management and contract administration of civil engineering and M&E installation projects.
* Develop and implement project cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts.
* Monitor project performance against financial targets and budgets, identifying and addressing any variances.
* Support in the review of cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for new and ongoing projects.
* Evaluate and negotiate tenders, quotes, and proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.
* Manage the administration of contracts, including contract reviews, preparation of claims, and management of variations.
* Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and industry standards.
* Implement cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering, ensuring optimal use of resources.
* Regularly review project progress, costs, and schedules with project managers and stakeholders
* Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
* Provide expert advice on cost-related issues and assist in decision-making processes.
* Prepare regular financial reports, cash flow forecasts, CVR’s and project cost summaries for senior management.
* Maintain accurate records of project costs, contracts, and changes.
Requirements
* Professional membership in relevant bodies such as RICS, CIOB, or equivalent.
* Significant experience in contract administration, CVR’s, cost control, and project management.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, with experience in managing civil engineering and M&E installation projects.
* Strong knowledge of civil engineering and M&E installation practices, contract law, and construction standards.
* Proficiency in cost management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.
* Strong proven background in infrastructure project delivery and associated contracts
