Job Summary
We have embarked on a programme to implement a single Electronic Patient Record (EPR) as part of the NHS digital health ongoing initiative across the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospital Collaborative (NWAHC). The collaborative is made up of three acute hospitals in Norfolk and Waveney:
1. James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH)
2. Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH)
3. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust (QEH)

Main Duties of the Job
An EPR Lead SQL Developer plays a critical role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of SQL databases and applications within MEDITECH Expanse. The role involves technical expertise, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of NHS data and regulations.
Job Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Collaboration: Lead a team of SQL data warehouse developers. Collaborate closely with business analysts, solution architects, and project managers across all three trusts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Work effectively with stakeholders across different business units to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
2. Data Warehouse Design & Development: Support the design and implementation of a robust, scalable, and secure data warehouse solution that integrates data from various source systems within the EPR landscape. Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to populate the data warehouse with accurate and timely data. Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across the data warehouse. Optimize data warehouse performance for efficient querying and reporting.
3. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, methodologies, and best practices. Expertise in data modelling techniques (dimensional modelling, star schema, etc.). Proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery). Knowledge of data integration tools and technologies. Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions is highly desirable.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent experience relevant to role.
* Master's degree or equivalent experience or qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience in a Health Informatics environment.
Experience
* Extensive experience with Business Intelligence development lifecycle.
* Experience and understanding of data quality issues within the NHS and how to resolve them.
* Experience of managing, developing and recruiting staff.
Skills
* Exceptional communication skills - written and verbal - able to identify key points from complex issues and explain them appropriately and with clarity.
* Ability to write advanced, complex relational and multidimensional SQL queries and complex stored procedures.
* Expert and in-depth knowledge and experience of programming languages, SQL Server Management Studio and scripting languages.
* Expert knowledge of the NHS Data dictionary and Model.
