We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
At PH Jones, our mission is to mend it. Our teams have been at the heart of communities for over 50 years. Partnering with local authorities and associations, we support social housing across the UK – installing, upgrading and repairing heating and electrical systems. But we’re not just living off our legacy. We’re on a mission to make the UK’s social housing sector greener and more energy efficient.
About your role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the PH Jones Finance Partnering Team and get full P&L exposure to the financial support to the entire PH Jones business. PH Jones is the social housing services arm of British Gas services, along with providing service partners to support BG Homecare customers and install BG boilers. PH Jones also runs the large Nest contract with the Welsh Government which is seeking to reduce fuel poverty whilst helping to decarbonise Wales.
Location: This role can be based out of our Stockport or Windsor offices. The role will be hybrid working with circa 1 or 2 days in the office per week.
Role responsibilities:
* Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the PH Jones business and to get a deep understanding of performance drivers.
* Understand business strategy and its translation into financial impacts, and support its effective communication across Finance.
* Develop understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and inter-company agreements and transactions.
* Own the operating cost and social housing contract reporting and analysis.
* Support the wider finance team and business by providing robust insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance.
* Provide regular key stakeholder briefings.
* Regularly review and report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective action.
* Maintain a live risks and opportunities view of the business, helping the business to mitigate risks and deliver opportunities.
* Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making.
Here's what we’re looking for:
* Recognised accountancy qualification or passed finalist.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships.
* Motivated by continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs.
* Ability to identify a problem and think through an approach to develop a solution.
* Experience of providing commercial analysis and evaluation in a financial planning and analysis or business partnering role.
* Strong IT skills (e.g. SAP, Excel, Power BI).
* Strong analytical skills with an ability to summarise complex data and matters and communicate effectively.
* An interest in automation and use of new tools to analyse data and streamline processes.
* Capable of managing multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and working to tight deadlines.
* Ability to identify, assess and analyse organisation wide operational risks and controls.
