Springer Healthcare is a leading publisher of medical educational products for the healthcare community, and forms part of Springer Nature, one of the world's leading global scientific and medical publishers. Springer Healthcare are looking for a Medical Writer to join the Medical Education Team in the London or Chester office.
Role Responsibilities:
Project delivery
1. To write and edit scientific content for a range of different audiences, according to client needs, deadline, budget and internal quality standards, as directed by the senior team.
2. Interpret and follow a brief from a client or senior team member, delivering content in line with the project objectives and in the appropriate tone and format to meet the brief, following the agreed timeline and within the hours and budget assigned to the task.
3. Demonstrate consistent awareness of all aspects of a project, including the different tasks and roles required for successful delivery, while following the planned project timeline.
4. Represent the editorial team in all aspects of project planning, determining tasks required for delivery, and communicating effectively with other team members to ensure successful delivery of the project.
5. Research and generate content in varied formats as determined by the project, including but not limited to: PowerPoint slides; Word documents; eLearning modules; animations; podcasts; infographics; web sites.
6. Be a point of contact on matters of scientific content for clients, experts and internal staff.
7. Accurately record actual time spent on a project against budgeted time, and complete timesheets in a timely manner.
8. Monitor utilisation rate so that it is 95% on average.
Business development
1. Maintain awareness of indicated therapeutic areas.
2. Contribute in client meetings and pitches as a scientific representative of Springer Healthcare.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
1. A biomedical degree (or extensive equivalent experience).
2. Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communication, organisational and time management skills.
3. Problem solving and critical thinking capabilities.
4. Good interpersonal/teamwork skills.
5. Understanding and implementing editorial processes in all aspects of the role.
Desirable
1. A higher degree in a biomedical discipline, ideally MSc or PhD.
