A vacancy has arisen for a permanent administrator at Towcester Medical Centre for 15 hours per week
We are a high performing GP surgery serving a growing population.
This role is varied, busy and very rewarding.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for afriendly, positive individual who can remain calm under pressure. Thesuccessful candidate will have strong communication skills, be a good teamplayer but also be able to use their own initiative. IT literacy is requiredbut we will give full training on our clinical system.

Job responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to:
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project apositive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person orvia the telephone
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist inthe smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial andclerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team
Processing insurance reports
Producing patient summaries and medical records
Supporting QOF and running reports on EMIS
Accurately clinically coding data on EMIS into patient records.
Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action.
Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to the patient healthcare records.
The successful candidate will be able to work together as a team and individually.
Previous Primary care experience would be an advantage for this role but training will be provided for the right candidate.
Duties and responsibilities:
Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Taking messages and passing on information
Filing and retrieving paperwork
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation/ clinicalcoding; processing and recording information in accordance with practiceprocedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests frompatients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as requiredfrom time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying andscanning
Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leafletdispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust uswith, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their healthand other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect thatstaff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
In the performance of the duties outlined in this jobdescription, the post-holder may have access to confidential informationrelating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcareworkers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as abusiness organisation. All such information from any source is to be regardedas strictly confidential
Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, otherhealthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged toauthorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and proceduresrelating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data
Health & safety:
The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintainingtheir own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practicehealth & safety policy, the practice health & safety manual, and thepractice infection control policy and published procedures. This will include:
Monitor and maintain security during working hours
Identifying the risks involved in work activities andundertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
Making effective use of training to update knowledge andskills
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintainingwork areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
Actively reporting of health and safety hazards andinfection hazards immediately when recognised
Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generallyclean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanlinessconsistent with the scope of the job holders role
Maintain covid security at all times
Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimumannually)
