Job Description
The UK GL Accountant role is key to delivering accurate and timely financial records, ensuring fiduciary commitments are maintained and tracking key budgets. Reporting to the UK Senior Accountant, the role supports all legal entity accounting, payments, banking activities, and ad-hoc projects. This role also supports the implementation of new ideas to simplify and improve processes across the organization.
Responsibilities
Accounting
1. Prepare, calculate, and submit for approval accruals and prepayments in line with corporate policy requirements for the UK Segment and UK Legal Entity.
2. Support and coordinate the monthly close process under UK GAAP with accurate and compliant journal postings.
3. Provide GL accounting guidance to operations to ensure proper and consistent accounting.
4. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation using Blackline (reconciliation tool) with clear action steps and follow through to close open items by corporate deadlines.
5. Perform cost center/profit center analysis and intercompany reconciliations to issue accurate intercompany invoices.
6. Assist in the preparation of the monthly accounting calendar by contributing to the monthly close preparation and review meetings.
7. Support and back up the Senior Accountant during absences.
8. Suggest and implement new ideas to simplify the monthly closing by reviewing the journals and adding BI if applicable.
9. Support daily cash management by clearing cash concentration accounts and ensuring efficient cash flow management.
10. Prepare manual payments in the banking system if required.
11. Assist in the preparation and management of the company's travel & expenses (T&E) budget.
12. Assist in system enhancements and continuous process improvement efforts.
13. Perform ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting as necessary.
Stewardship/Controls
1. Support the collating, filing, and archiving of all the company's supporting documentation (electronic and physical).
2. Enable the implementation and adherence to Duracell's Standard Practice Instructions and Delegation of Authority.
3. Submit UK & Ireland environment data and volumes (Monthly & Quarterly).
4. Support the preparation of the UK statutory accounts and external audits.
5. Support internal audit or any compliance matters.

Qualifications
Professional Requirements
1. 3-4 years of experience in financial accounting roles in a sales and distribution organization.
2. Part qualified ACCA with a Bachelor's degree in Finance & Accounting.
3. Working experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills are a must.
4. Self-motivated team player with exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
5. Deadline-oriented with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
6. Willingness to go the extra mile during times of heavy workload (e.g. month close & budget).
7. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
