Plant Protection Engineer
Location: Cambuslang
Salary: from £42,000 – £52,500 per year (dependant on experience) plus strong benefits package and extensive career progression opportunities.

Role
As Plant Protection Engineer you will support the continued safe and reliable operation of the Transmission System issuing guidance to external customers wishing to work near our Transmission Assets.
What you’ll be doing
* Lead small team in resolving customer enquiries generated from Salesforce liaise with Salesforce team for successful handover of circuits and resolution to completion.
* Provide guidance under HSG47 and GS6 for works near to the transmission system cables and overhead lines.
* Request, obtain and review transmission system drawings and technical information to quote and provide copies of with the requested guidance.
* Issuing guidance in accordance with relevant internal and external policies and procedures mainly HSG47 (Cable Avoidance) and GS6 (working in proximity to overhead powerlines).
* Auditing, monitoring and reporting of work activities near the transmission system to ensure the system is protected.
* Liaise with design team for technical guidance on cable ratings and conductor ratings.
* Consider innovations to help drive the Carbon Neutral policy forward.
What you’ll bring
* Ability to manage work programmes with a prior working knowledge of the Salesforce Application.
* Knowledge of transmission system processes and procedures.
* Knowledge of external legislation and HSG47/GS6 guidance.
* Sound knowledge of the Scottish Power health and safety processes and procedures.
* Knowledge of project management principles and CDM Requirements.
* Independent substation access and strong knowledge of all types of transmission cables including oil filled and how to work safely around them.
* Assist delivery of full balance of programme activities, taking into account overall Energy Networks objectives and targets.
* Take ownership to improve the safety and customer service culture across the organisation. Lead by example and deliver line of sight objectives.
* Make balanced decisions, considering all possible information available, able to consult with others when applicable and anticipate/recognise possible outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
* HNC Electrical Engineering or Equivalent technical qualification.
* Relevant experience on electrical networks.
* Able to demonstrate technical competence in relation to Transmission Cable Construction and Maintenance Activities.
* Site Management Safety Training / Safety Passport.
* Sound knowledge of CDM and HSAWA regulations.
* Full valid driving licence and own car for site use.
