Job overview
An opportunity has arisen in Outpatients for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse to join our Outpatient Leadership Team as a band 6 Clinic Manager for the Catkin Centre and Community clinics. This role includes the supervision and management of staff, children, young people and their families including clinical work.
The post holder will have experience of working within a busy clinical area, a willingness to learn new skills, and demonstrable effective communication and leadership qualities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of Catkin/Community care. The Clinic Manager will supervise and develop junior staff as part of the Catkin Senior leadership team.
* To coordinate clinics and nurse staffing allocation according to patient numbers.
* Manage sickness absence and human resource issues in line with Trust policy.
* Ensure appropriate clinic management of booked patients.
* Liaise with colleagues to ensure continuous nursing cover.
* Involved in the recruitment and training of staff.
* Ensure staff participation at mandatory training sessions.
* Participate in and conduct the PDR process.
* Lead and participate in the development of nursing services.
* Participate in phlebotomy responsibilities and provide leadership in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
* Lead the daily safety huddle.
* Prioritize attendance at governance and senior leadership meetings.
* Promote effective communication to ensure a team approach to care.
* Manage complaints received on clinic.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act.
* Support new members of staff and students through supervision and education.
* Identify departmental training needs of staff.
* Participate in the education and development of junior staff.
* Carry out the role of link nurse as required.
* Actively pursue opportunities for professional development.
* Work towards the development and implementation of clinical competencies and pathways.
Person specification
* Qualifications: Registered Paediatric Nurse, Mentorship qualification or equivalent, Educated to Diploma level.
* Substantial post-registration experience, preferably within an Outpatient department.
* Demonstrable staff supervisory and management experience.
* Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage competing priorities, and be sensitive to the needs of children and families.
* Full driving licence required with use of own vehicle.
