Role Overview: As a Secondary Teaching Assistant (Personal Care Support), you will work closely with teaching staff to provide support for students with a range of educational needs. This role will involve assisting students both academically and with personal care, ensuring they can fully participate in school activities and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide academic support in lessons under the direction of teaching staff.
2. Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing and hygiene.
3. Support students with mobility challenges and help them access learning materials and activities.
4. Help students to develop social skills and participate in group activities.
5. Monitor and track student progress, contributing to their individual education plans (IEPs).
6. Maintain a safe and supportive environment, promoting the dignity and independence of students at all times.
7. Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills.
About You:
1. Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting / care setting.
2. Experience or training in supporting with personal care needs.
3. Empathy, patience, and a caring nature.
4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
6. A proactive approach, with the ability to use initiative.
7. Knowledge of special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
8. A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable.
