What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a proactive and experienced People Partner to join our small but dynamic Group People team. The ideal candidate will have strong HR generalist experience, with expertise in employee relations, performance management, and organisational change. They will be comfortable handling complex ER cases, driving engagement initiatives, and supporting managers with talent development.
This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on operational support, and as part of a small team, the People Partner must be adaptable—balancing project work with day-to-day people operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with the People Director and People Advisor, ensuring a seamless approach to people-related matters across the business.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Performance Management & Talent Development
* Lead the performance management process, coaching managers on goal setting, feedback, and career development conversations.
* Support the People Director in developing a leadership capability framework, ensuring managers have the tools and skills to effectively manage their teams.
* Work closely with managers to identify and develop high-potential employees, ensuring robust development plans are in place.
* Analyse performance data and trends, making recommendations to improve productivity, engagement, and retention.
* Assist in training managers to have effective, structured performance conversations, ensuring consistency across the business.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
* Support the Talent Partner with recruitment strategies, assisting managers with interviewing, workforce planning, and retention initiatives.
* Work with the People Director to forecast business talent needs, ensuring the organisation has the right skills for future growth.
* Ensure fair and inclusive hiring practices are embedded within the recruitment process.
* Assist in onboarding and induction processes, ensuring new employees have a smooth transition into the business.
Employee Engagement & Wellbeing
* Design and implement engagement initiatives, working with managers to improve overall employee satisfaction, retention, and workplace culture.
* Analyse employee feedback and surveys, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvement.
* Promote a culture of wellbeing, ensuring managers are equipped to support mental health, work-life balance, and team morale.
Employee Relations (ER) & Organisational Change
* Act as the first point of contact for ER cases, advising and coaching managers on performance, absence management, grievances, disciplinaries, and disputes.
* Provide expert guidance on redundancies, restructures, TUPE transfers, and change management initiatives, ensuring best practices and legal compliance.
* Work closely with the People Director to review and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with employment law and business needs.
* Lead conflict resolution processes, supporting managers in mediation and dispute resolution to maintain a positive work environment.
HR Compliance & Policy Development
* Work closely with the People Advisor, ensuring smooth HR operations, administration, and compliance.
* Oversee the HRIS (Hi-Bob) and reporting, using people data to drive strategic decisions.
* Ensure HR policies remain up to date with UK employment law and business needs.
* Assist the People Director in designing and implementing business-wide HR strategies, ensuring they align with the group’s vision.
* Work collaboratively with senior leadership teams (SLT) on business change initiatives, ensuring a people-first approach.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
* Drive the DEI strategy, assessing current initiatives and recommending improvements across the employee lifecycle.
* Work with the People Director to embed inclusive practices in recruitment, development, and workplace culture.
* Provide training and guidance to managers on fostering an inclusive work environment.
* Ensure that all People processes and policies are inclusive, fair, and free from bias.
You’ll need to have:
* Proven experience as an HR generalist, with a focus on employee engagement, performance management, talent management and recruitment and retention.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and managers.
* Excellent knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations.
* International HR experience is a plus, but not essential.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and develop solutions.
* Experience with HRIS and other HR-related technology is desirable.
* A cool head in a fast-paced, chaotic environment. Prioritisation and time management are key.
* Big-picture understanding of the importance of people to the business, and the importance of excellent recruitment, team wellbeing, and strong administration to improve the ‘people experience’.
* The ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.

* A CIPD qualification is a nice to have, but not essential.
