Role Overview:
As a Graduate Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations for our group of companies. You will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial reporting while ensuring compliance with UK GAAP. This position will also involve managing the client accounting process, specifically handling rent payments for tenancies on behalf of landlords. You will reconcile these payments daily, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
In addition to your accounting duties, you will lead on our agency business accounting, working closely with both clients and internal teams. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a variety of responsibilities within a growing company. We are also happy to support your professional development and will contribute towards your ACCA training.
Your profile
Key Responsibilities:Client Accounting:
* Daily reconciliation of all client accounts, including rent and deposit accounts.
* Generate and issue rent statements to landlords in a timely manner.
* Set up payments from the client account to landlords, third party contractors and agency fees.
* Maintain detailed and accurate records of the client accounts, to assist with preparation of the yearly audit.
* Work closely with the resident services team to resolve any payment discrepancies.
* Assist with the Non-Resident Landlord scheme, ensuring full compliance.
Billing:
* Ensure all sales invoices are issued to customers in a timely manner.
* Accurately post all sales invoices, credit notes, and adjustments.
* Maintain up-to-date customer accounts, including reconciliation and transaction allocation.
* Issue customer statements on a monthly basis.
* Keep customer billing addresses and contact details updated.
Payables:
* Process all purchase invoices and credit notes efficiently.
* Ensure invoices are approved on time to meet payment terms.
* Manage expenses and credit card reconciliations.
* Address and resolve supplier queries promptly.
* Process journals related to accounts payables.
Payments & Banking:
* Handle daily banking of customer and supplier payments.
* Accurately allocate bank transactions.
* Prepare and reconcile bank accounts regularly.
Management Accounting:
* Maintain accurate accounting records for prepayments, accruals, deferred income, and fixed assets.
* Reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure consistency across the business.
* Post month-end and year-end journals accurately.
* Conduct monthly variance analysis on the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
* Assist in preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
Qualifications & Skills:
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
* No prior professional experience is necessary; this role is open to recent graduates or individuals looking to start their career in accounting.
* A keen interest in property accounting and the ability to adapt to a client-facing environment.
* Strong analytical skills with an investigative approach to problem-solving.
* Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* High level of integrity and attention to detail.
* Ability to work well as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
* Experience with Xero or similar accounting software is beneficial, but not essential.
Remuneration & Benefits:
* Salary: £24,000.00 per annum.
* Study Contribution: £2,000 towards ACCA training.
* Pension: Company Pension Scheme.
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 18:00.
* Holiday: 20 days annual leave, plus public holidays and your birthday.
* Laptop provided for the role.
* 1 day working from home per week.
