Day Electrical Engineer Opportunity at Prestigious University Site
Our client is seeking a Day Electrical Engineer for a prestigious university site, providing an excellent opportunity for valuable experience and career progression. We are looking for a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Engineer who can operate independently within the electrician trade and collaborate with General Maintenance Assistants as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
: Deliver comprehensive repair and maintenance services for systems, plant, and equipment across all university buildings.
: Work on a rotational schedule, with possible shifts between 6 am : 7 pm, Monday to Friday.
: Execute tasks safely and effectively, following safety legislation, manufacturers manuals, and KUSCO Health and Safety Procedures.
: Conduct diagnostic and fault:finding tasks.
: Maintain and update asset registers.
: Perform statutory, mandatory, planned preventative, and reactive maintenance.
: Accurately interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications.
: Assist in setting out new work, identifying materials for ordering, and collecting relevant tools and equipment.
: Undertake a wide range of duties, including those outside the primary trade area.
: Utilize hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and equipment within safety guidelines.
: Plan and execute maintenance work on systems, plant, equipment, and buildings, ensuring satisfactory operation upon completion.
: Conduct inspections for pre:installations and investigate services required for new equipment and minor installation improvement works.
: Conduct site:based surveys and report defects to the appropriate manager.
: Prepare plant and equipment for independent insurance inspection for compliance with statutory regulations.
: Acquire skills in other trades and perform various tasks with suitable training.
: Oversee the work of service contractors occasionally.
: Liaise with the Asset Manager regarding plant, equipment, and building fabric failures, requesting the supply of goods and services as needed.
: Work in hazardous areas, confined spaces, and on contaminated equipment using appropriate protective equipment and safety measures.
: Instruct others on aspects of the work.
: Complete daily individual administration tasks, including the timely completion of works/job dockets/tickets and logbooks.
: Utilize relevant software systems, including PDAs, CAFM system, BMS, work permit system, and ordering system with proper training.
: Assist with emergency work when requested, including outside normal working hours.
: Support the induction and training of new starters, apprentices, and maintenance staff as part of a personal development program.
: Use equipment such as ladders and scaffolding as required.
Qualifications:
: Completed an apprenticeship in Electrical or obtained an equivalent NVQ/C and G Level 3.
: Knowledge of Emergency Lighting Fundamentals and Maintenance.
: 17th Edition qualification with a willingness to undertake the 18th Edition.
: Basic knowledge of Health and Safety issues related to the Construction Industry.
Skills:
: Sound knowledge of building maintenance and electrical systems.
: Ability to record detailed and accurate repair information.
: Proficient in using mobile electronic equipment (handhelds).
