Irwin and Colton has been engaged by a high profile Tier 1 contractor with a turnover of circa £650m to recruit a Head of Health, Safety and Environment within their infrastructure division. The role is focused on ensuring the safe delivery of major works projects within the utilities sector. The organisation has an excellent track record across health and safety, and this role is critical to this continued success.
Responsibilities for the Head of Health, Safety and Environment will include:
1. Engaging with senior managers, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure responsibilities are clear and answering technical health and safety-related inquiries.
2. Assessing upcoming challenges and ensuring health and safety solutions are in place.
3. Constantly assessing opportunities for health and safety improvement.
4. Leading major health and safety incident investigations to identify root causes and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
The successful Head of Health, Safety and Environment candidate will have:
1. Proven leadership experience in a similar role, ideally within construction, utilities, civil engineering, or a related industry.
2. Experience in influencing, engaging, and coaching senior management and engaging with site-level operations.
3. Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
4. A strong technical knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, compliance, and regulations.
