Our client is a successful and well-established food manufacturer. They are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to join their team. This role would suit someone with extensive experience in a Managerial role in a food manufacturing/production environment, such as a Compliance Manager / Quality Manager / QA Manager / Quality Controller / QC Manager.
As the Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the food safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured on site by the production of a comprehensive Food Safety Quality Management System and regular auditing of such. You will be the site lead for the food safety plans (HACCP, TACCP, Allergen & Listeria). In addition, you will have the responsibility of managing the Process Compliance Officer, providing leadership and management to deliver their role effectively, and to provide succession planning for the future.
Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:
Qualifications:
• Level 3 Food Safety (Advanced)
• Level 3 in H&S (Advanced), either IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
• Food-related BSc qualification or min 5 years industry experience
• Level 3 HACCP
• Foundation TACCP
• Level 3 Listeria
• Allergen Management
• Group and site induction
Experience / Knowledge:
• Relevant food manufacturing experience in a similar role (minimum 7 years).
• All relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures are reviewed and to current methods.
• Hazards and near miss reporting training.
• Recognised PC skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
• Experience of using VISO or equivalent would be advantageous
• Recognised Internal/3rd Party Audit training.
• Strong Management Skills
Salary £50,000+ (negotiable depending on experience). Monday to Friday, day shift, on site.
Main Duties:
Factory (50%):
• Lead on customer COPs and 3rd Party Standards.
• Stay informed of all changes to customer codes of practice and external standards applicable to site (e.g. BRC, BMPA).
• Conduct documented gap analysis between customer COPs and site procedures, manufacturing standards and practices.
• Engage with stake holders to draw plans on how compliance gaps can be closed and coordinate delivery of those plans.
• Own the FSQMS stage of 3rd party and group audits. Prepare for known audits, raise and drive close out of NCRs.
• Own Site Internal Audit plan and execution.
• Coordinate site's NCR database system and timely closure of all actions.
• Partner with department managers to embed relevant changes or CA's.
• Support improvement to FSQMS in relevant Risk Assessments and Validations.
• Manage site barrier risk assessment and associated validations.
• Coordinate timely delivery of site allergen and species validation schedule.
• Actively participate in HACCP team activities.
• Update site policies, procedures and records as and when required in line with company Doc Control Procedures.
People (20%):
• Ensuring effective management of team members with clear development to support the sites succession planning.
• Guide and support team through the day-to-day challenges and support action plans for a 100-year fix.
• Appraisals x 2 year.
• Resource planning.
• Managing all ER related issues for team, including disciplinaries, performance management.
• Promoting and leading change management through driving good behaviours and leading by example.
• Attending relevant cross functional site meetings and presenting technical data.
• Collaborating, educating and training relevant factory staff to support the development of a stronger Food Safety & Quality Culture.
Customer (10%):
• Supporting customer visits
Project work (20%):
• Lead implementation of technical strategy and food safety and quality culture plan.
• Support Continuous improvement plans such as complaint reduction, quality improvement & non-conformance reduction.
• Lead strategic projects as required.
• Carry out other duties as reasonably expected by the business
