This is an exciting opportunity to become Chelmsford City Council's Communications Officer - Digital, responsible for the day-to-day running of the council’s main corporate social media accounts. As a part of our small, friendly communications team, the successful applicant will post across multiple platforms, reaching thousands of Chelmsford residents, workers and visitors every week. The post holder will be supporting teams across the council to realise their social media potential, gathering, creating and capturing content about our services, community and area. Other responsibilities include co-ordinating content gathered from the rest of the communications team, ensuring a consistent tone of voice and producing analysis and reporting on our campaigns and performance.
The successful applicant will need to have experience of social media management across multiple platforms along with an up-to-date knowledge of current social media trends, behaviours and innovations. also need to have a solid understanding of communications and digital content, familiarity with analytical and scheduling tools, and basic design capabilities. Some video editing experience would be a plus.
This is a part-time, permanent position of 26 hours a week. These hours could be worked over 4 or 5 days with the agreement of your line manager. The role will be based at the Civic Centre for at least one day a week with flexibility for home working. This is a politically restricted role.
Interviews will be in person on 1 and 2 April, and will consist of a practical written exercise followed by an interview.
