The trauma and orthopaedic department are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our team for a period up to 31st March 2025. This is a new initiative and as such will evolve over time so you need to be flexible in your approach to the role and will be instrumental in its development.
The role is based at St Thomas hospital and the post holder will work closely with the trauma orthopaedic team to facilitate the pathway for patients who need orthopaedic surgery.
Closing Date: 27th June 2024 at Midnight
Interview Date: 10th July 2024
Important: Must have agreement from line manager to apply and be available for a start date within 4 weeks of interview.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside the Trauma Orthopaedic team to manage the orthopaedic trauma admissions to St Thomas Hospital. The aim of the role is to improve the pathway for this group of patients to ensure that they receive the best care in a timely fashion. The post holder will provide expert advice to the nursing/MDT teams on the pre and post-op management of patients that are admitted and work with the team to schedule surgery within agreed timeframes.
They will act as point of contact for patients who are not within the footprint of the orthopaedic ward and for ambulatory trauma patients who are sent home to await a surgery date. The post holder will be expected to liaise amongst the various subspecialties in coordinating care between the two sites (Guys and St Thomas’). This role will develop over time.
