Mechanical Engineer - Space Industry
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of the next generation of air-breathing ion propulsion systems and satellite technology for our client. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in building complex systems, including CAD design, technical drawing preparation, tolerance management, and structural analysis. You will take ownership of subsystem development from the ground up, ensuring mission success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and development of advanced structures and mechanisms.
* Rapidly iterate manufacturing processes and development testing in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
* Perform hand calculations and FEA to develop, assess, and optimize designs.
* Conduct trade studies, optimizing for cost, schedule, safety, and performance, among other considerations.
Fundamental Requirements:
* 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis.
* Proficiency in CAD modeling and drawing preparation.
* Strong understanding of structural analysis and failure modes in complex mechanical systems.
* Extensive experience with FEM software (e.g., ANSYS).
* Background in structures, mechanisms, or interior design for aerospace or aviation industries.
* Solid knowledge and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
