Big Ant Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with SWISCo to find the right person to join their amazing green infrastructure experts who are well-regarded in the tree industry.
You will be part of Torbay Council, the first local authority to undertake the i-tree ecosystem survey back in 2010 and to carry out a second i-tree survey. This invaluable data provides the evidence base for our tree management policies in addition to the easily referenced financial worth of the trees to illustrate the value of Torbay's trees.
You will be responsible for ongoing assessments of Torbay Council's tree stock, which includes a wonderful mixture of native and exotic species of varying ages, along with a tree planting/establishment budget to ensure long-term succession tree cover within Torbay. The Victorian legacy planting of both street and park trees is entering its mature years, where proactive crown management will be required to manage their decline in accordance with our tree risk management strategy.
Opportunities to become involved in specific projects or form part of a wider multi-disciplinary team will be expected. A keen eye for detail and high standards of tree management are key, along with a sense of humour.

2. Effective negotiation/influencing skills when dealing with suppliers, staff, and members of the public.
3. Possession of impeccable customer relationship and service skills to demonstrate a customer-focused approach.
4. Ability to assess the condition of trees and the impact proposed works would have on their amenity contribution and life expectancy.
Knowledge:
1. Awareness of the contents of all current versions of relevant British Standards or Building Research Establishment documents relating to trees and/or landscaping.
2. Practical knowledge and understanding of legislative and statutory obligations affecting the service area of responsibility.
