Job summary
We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Neuropsychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Brunel and provide senior medical cover care to those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.
And you'll have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.
Main duties of the job
Cygnet Hospital Brunel offers an extensive Neuropsychiatric treatment, care and rehabilitation pathway which is unique in its ability to provide a dedicated pathway to meet the complex needs of service users within their individually designed wards facilitate a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway for those affected by an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI); where behaviours that challenge are the overarching impairment to recovery and rehabilitation.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and have overall medical responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.)
The post holder will be expected to act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.

Your role responsibilities
1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
2. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
4. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
5. Participate in ward rounds & clinical audits
6. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance
7. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
8. Participate in the 2nd On call Rota

We are looking for someone who is...
25. Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
26. Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
27. Experienced & knowledgeable in Neuropsychiatry
28. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
29. A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
30. Committed to continued professional development
31. Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
32. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
