Team Lead Surgical and Critical Care Dietitian (Band 7) - Senior Dietitian - Medway NHS Foundation Trust
Medway NHS Foundation Trust – Gillingham, Kent
We are recruiting for a Team Lead Surgical and Critical Care Dietitian who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
The post holder will undertake autonomous work across the surgical wards and critical care – including both the high dependency unit and intensive care.
The post holder’s team would also cover areas such as respiratory medicine, cardiac medicine, and orthopaedics, and support the work of a dietetic apprentice. The post holder may be required to cover other areas, as caseload/service needs demand.
Responsibilities include:
1. Taking a lead role in supervision of the team under the leadership of the Lead for Dietetics, deputising in their absence.
2. Attending and actively contributing at MDT meetings and board rounds to discuss patient cases, dietetic intervention, goals, and discharge planning.
3. Providing timely dietetic care to patients, working effectively as part of the Acute Dietetic Team.
4. Providing cover to other areas in times of absence or clinical need.
5. Providing a 7-day and extended hours working pattern.
6. Educating members of the Medical team, Nursing staff, Student Nurses, and other healthcare professionals as relevant to the role.
7. Supervising more junior dietetic team members, aiding rotations and supporting their development.
8. Leading a team of dietitians, consisting of band 6 and band 5 dietitians, a dietetic apprentice, and dietetic assistants.
9. Supervising students and dietetic apprentices during placements.
10. Producing and delivering educational material and dietetic resources to the team and wider MDT.
