- WHAT IS VAMPIRE SQUID? Vampire Squid is an independent website dedicated to horror. We also cover sci-fi, fantasy, true crime and more We post news, reviews, interviews, videos and original features, and promote the work of independent writers, artists and filmmakers from around the world. - WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: We're currently seeking writers to contribute to our website with relevant news, articles, reviews, interviews and other original content. Topics we cover include: horror, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, comics, true crime, weird history, events, literature, theatre, dark humour, art, and more. Please note, this is an unpaid role and we cannot accept applications from anyone under the age of 18. - WHY WORK WITH VAMPIRE SQUID? We know how difficult it can be to get a paid job as a writer without having enough published work and experience on your CV. We also understand that taking time out to do full-time internships just isn't practical for everyone. With that in mind, we want to do things a little differently. We aim to give our contributors the valuable practical experience they need to develop their writing skills and build a portfolio of published work at their own pace. We provide ongoing guidance to all of our contributors to help them learn and further their own careers and interests. You'll be given training materials, taught how to use WordPress and shown how to write, research, format and proofread professionally – in a way that fits your own schedule. - ABOUT THE ROLE: This role is remote and flexible, but we do have expectations that we require our writers to try and meet, such as meeting deadlines, taking onboard feedback from the editors and sometimes making amends to articles before we publish them. Writers can also pitch their own ideas for as many features, reviews and interviews as they like, and we encourage them to get creative. Successful applicants should demonstrate strong writing and research skills, though we welcome both seasoned and inexperienced writers to apply - HOW TO APPLY: 1.
