The post holder will: Participate in the dispensing of medicines at ward level and in the dispensary in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Hold an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification and maintain this by participating in the ACPT rota in the main inpatient dispensary and as part of the delivery of medication via the satellites. Assist in the continuing development and roll out of the existing ward-based Medicines Optimisation Technician (MOT) service and pharmacy strategy. Assist the section leads in the management, development and delivery of a high quality, patient centred and cost-effective pharmacy service. Play a key role in the future planning and implementation of pharmacy ward-based Medicines Optimisation Technician services. Undertake Medicines Optimisation duties at ward-based level as per rota. Deliver and record savings from appropriate supply and re-use of medicines. Assist in the writing and implementation of new SOPs and the implementation of any other procedures and practice changes required within the department. Promote a culture of learning and development within the Pharmacy MOT and dispensary teams. Support Pharmacy clinical and dispensary services to meet both departmental and Trust Quality and Key performance indicators (KPI). Follow all legal and departmental practices including SOPs, COSHH, Lifting and Handling Regulations and all Trust Policies and Procedures. Be expected to contribute to the development of pharmaceutical services, and to promote the highest standards of professional practice, whilst always observing the "Statement upon Matters of Professional Conduct" issued by the General Pharmaceutical Council. Ensure good communication between ward-based pharmacy services, non-pharmacy healthcare professionals, inpatient dispensary, and procurement and distribution services to promote discharge planning and co-ordination to enhance contribution to the achievement of the Trusts targets. Liaise with the other section leads with regards to annual leave and study leave for trainees to ensure continuity of service.
