Our Store, Team and Location
Eric and Mark have been the directors of the store since the store opened 12 years ago after seeing success with their Peterlee store. Mark has always worked for Specsavers, having started his pre-reg with Specsavers Sunderland and then buying into Peterlee 3 years later. Eric has a vast optics background, he started as a lab tech at the age of 16, then became a qualified Dispensing Optician in 1992 and has been a Specsavers Director since the opening of Peterlee 22 years ago.The atmosphere in store has also persuaded optometrists who were locums at the store to stay on as employees. One of the main reasons behind this is the flexibility available to them. Eric and Mark are firm believers in fairness, and understand how important finding the balance between work and life outside the testing room can be.
Seaham is on the North East Coast of England and offers a great deal for all ages, from walking, mountain biking, diving, photography, art galleries, great schools and great house prices. With the great transport links this is an excellent location to live.
This store is a part of the UK's most trusted optical brand and has enjoyed a strong period of growth recently so as a result are looking to add and strengthen the existing team of around 19 employees. The store itself has 4 test rooms with Optometrists working to 20-25-minute test times. As you would expect the store works with the latest technology such as Nidek Fundus, Tonoref, Phoropters etc and are always looking at new technology that will help Optometrists give the best patient care.
Seaham are lucky enough to have a close relationship with the Sunderland Eye infirmary, the best in Europe for urgent referrals, so as an Optometrist you have great options with regards your development.
