Quality Technician
Area: Redditch
Working Hours: Afternoon Shift - 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
Salary: £29,166 per annum
Role Overview
The Quality Technician plays a critical role in ensuring food safety, product legality, and quality compliance. Working closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) and Production teams, this role involves routine assessments of equipment, products, and the factory environment to uphold technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
* Collect and record product samples for analysis in accordance with scheduled requirements.
* Perform swabbing procedures in compliance with documented schedules.
* Conduct ingredient and packaging inspections, reporting results to the Intake Compliance Controller.
* Ensure test packs meet accurate weight standards and verify packaging tare weights.
* Perform calibration and verification checks on measuring equipment, liaising with external providers when necessary.
* Maintain and update schedules for all equipment, ensuring proper operation within set tolerances.
Product & Process Monitoring
* Maintain Glass and Hard Plastic records, as well as start-up audit sheets and booklets.
* Actively participate in the complaint's reduction action plan, working with QA and Operations teams to improve product quality.
* Organize and conduct quality taste panels, including cooking products as needed, and document findings.
* Assess product quality at different stages (Start of Life, End of Life, shelf-life testing, and consistency checks).
Data Management & Audits
* Ensure all factory paperwork is properly organized and accessible for traceability and audits.
* Manage and code factory consumables, issuing them to operational departments as needed.
* Confirm detection methods for consumables, such as performing metal detection checks on plasters, pens, etc.
* Serve as a key member of the site audit traceability team.
* Drive continuous improvement within QA systems, ensuring compliance with all company policies and guidelines.
Additional Duties
* Assist with special projects or additional responsibilities as needed to support business operations.
Key Accountabilities & Performance Metrics
* Taste Panel Compliance - Completion rate of scheduled taste panels.
* QA Audit Compliance - Performance in third-party and customer audits, with minimal non-conformances.
* Data Accuracy & Schedule Compliance - Error rate in data entry and sample/swabbing schedules.
* Calibration Management - Percentage of equipment calibrations and verifications completed on time.
* Food Safety & Product Integrity - Maintaining high standards in food safety, quality, and health & safety compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Experience in the food industry.
* Level 2 or higher Food Safety qualification.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar role.
