GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is currently looking to recruit dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to work at a Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire. Whether you are an experienced Behaviour Support Assistantor are just starting out in your career, we would like to hear from you!
* Provide 1:1 support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Support the delivery of in-class activities, promoting independent learning where possible, and encouraging appropriate social skills.
* Work alongside the teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning and personal development.
* Build a trusting relationship and rapport with the student to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment.
* Help the student to replace their feelings of failure and frustration with a sense of belonging and success.
* Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or residential setting.
* Be knowledgeable or different complex needs, associated learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
* Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies such as Team Teach, NAPPI or MAPPA.
* Be able to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals.
* Have an Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
