We currently have an opportunity for an Inspector to join our team within Submarines Core Manufacturing (CM) in Derby. CM is responsible for the manufacture and delivery of nuclear core components. The successful candidate will have the desired skills to carry out inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process. You must be able to work safely and as part of a team. The delivery of right first-time quality is a key objective within CM. Your role will be to support this objective by working within a team that is committed to continuous improvement and reducing non-conformance across products and processes. Where non-conformance to specification occurs, you will be required to manage the non-conformance in line with the Rolls-Royce quality management system. Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. Core Manufacturing (CM) is part of the Rolls-Royce Submarines business. CM is responsible for the manufacture and delivery of nuclear core components. The role requires 3 shifts working and you may also be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime when necessary. What you will be doing: With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to: Work to Technical Instructions to deliver consistent, high quality Inspection across a variety of different components and product families Maintaining a high level of process compliance and sustainment, including calibration of gauges and measurement equipment Operate a variety of manual and digital inspection equipment, including CMM, Borescopes and 1st principal inspection and also Interpreting manufacturing drawings and written specifications Assessing components produced within the facility against quality standards and having the ability to make decisions giving suitable justifications for your conclusions Working within a team to effectively resolve any issues which arise and working closely with internal and external customers to continuously improve business performance Who we’re looking for: Being a part of Rolls-Royce you’ll know we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. To be successful in this role you will need to: Time served engineering apprenticeship, with previous experience relevant to Inspection in a manufacturing environment PCN Level 2 Visual Testing & NPL Level 1 (desirable) Experience in 1st Principal table inspection and operating CMM’s Experience in the visual inspection of welds (desirable) Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection An ideal candidate would be pro-active and capable of managing their time effectively Awareness of HS&E requirements Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
