We are delighted to announce that Eldene School will be opening a 10 place KS1 Special Resourced Provision (SRP) for children with Complex Learning Difficulties in January 2025/Easter 2025, which will complement our current KS2 provision. We are seeking to appoint a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, with a part time HLTA teaching responsibility, to join our Special Resource Provision to work with children with complex needs. This is a rare opportunity to join a small specialist SEN team The successful candidate will work under the direction of the SRP teacher/ manager and, when the provision is full, alongside other TAs. The role includes an HLTA level responsibility for the class in the absence of the SRP teacher/manager, including when they attend meetings and to cover their PPA. This will involve planning lessons, teaching the children and managing the other staff during this regular short-term cover. For the remainder of the time, the specialist TA role involves supporting children’s learning, assisting the teacher and helping to make a positive environment for the children to learn in. You will also plan and lead interventions such as speech and language, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and social skills groups. We are looking for a HLTA/ Specialist TA who: • has high expectations for SEN children and would be committed to help them fulfil their potential
• is able to use their initiative and be able to respond to the children’s changeable needs on a daily basis
• can work effectively and collaboratively with others in a small team, including professionals from outside agencies
• has previous experience and knowledge of supporting children with a range of special needs in a school setting
• loves working with SEN children and enjoys a challenge
• demonstrates high standards and expectations of themselves and the children
