Our public sector client is looking for a Local Taxation Officer to joint their team remotely on a inital short term contract. To process changes to liability and update Revenues records to maximise the collection and recovery of Local Taxation revenue. Key Responsibilities • To respond appropriately to Revenues enquiries received from customers and to action amendments to accounts. • To agree repayment plans with customers and to determine appropriate recovery action is taken in a manner that maximises collection. • Be responsible for obtaining and assessing information to determine Local Taxation liability. This includes determination and allowance of discounts and exemptions. • Accurately update and maintain the revenues databases to effect appropriate changes, in response to information received. • To have a responsibility for contributing to the review of working practices, procedures and documents by making suggestions for improvement in service delivery and performance. • Take part in the training or coaching of other colleagues either on a one to one basis or in a formal training environment e.g. to assist with the induction of new staff. Essential Requirements Vast Experience working with Business Rates A thorough knowledge of Local Taxation law or experience which demonstrates the ability to absorb and understand complex legislation. Ability to contribute ideas for Service Development. An adaptable and positive outlook to cope with pressure and change. Ability to work with minimum supervision and to deliver work to agreed targets and standards. Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues.
