What is the opportunity? An exciting opportunity to join our European Equity Sales business based here in London. You will be reporting to our UK Head of Cash Equity Sales and our Head of Continental Clients in this Europe focused role helping to manage and monetise global research and sales services. You will be responsible for the centralised client relationships and contract management of 200+ client relationships (external facing role). The role has oversight and management of client contracts, pricing, revenue, metrics, monitoring and review processes related to client management. Responsibilities also include managing and monitoring RBC’s performance with European clients (market share, profitability, votes, trends) and working with GE management to ensure we have a robust client strategy and plan with maximum focus and revenue potential. You will be keeping informed of industry trends and regulatory changes (g payment channels) and representing RBC appropriately at industry conferences. Though Europe focused, this role will require the candidate to be comfortable with coordination of efforts with our global internal partners – strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills are key to this.
What will you do?
1. Work with GE management and teams to identify gaps, opportunities and growth areas in the cash equities business utilising internal and external data (e.g. Maclagan, Coalition).
2. Solicit feedback and foster relationships with industry partners to garner more candid, actionable feedback to strengthen existing and new relationships to the bank.
3. Centrally manage the process of negotiating and finalizing research pricing packages whilst looking to evolve our internal pricing structure to match the requirements of our clients.
4. Ensure that our daily, weekly, monthly (etc.) reporting ties back across sales, trading and research and the numbers are reconciled appropriately and in a timely manner.
5. Work closely with internal functional partners such as legal, finance, product control, ops, CSA, CRM and tech teams to create process efficiencies where required and be the liaison point for resolution of operational and business challenges.
6. Work closely with legal, finance and CSA teams specifically on the finalisation of research legal agreements and realisation of research revenues.
7. Direct process to analyse the client broker vote metrics and client voting review analysis (including sector scorecard process with research BM) to identify areas of vote improvement.
8. Work closely with technology and client intelligence teams to evolve and automate internal metrics relating to revenues (in tandem with finance and BM), automating internal metrics relating to revenues, resources, wallets and client interactions.
9. Work closely with Ops to synergize the EMEA process with global operations processes (e.g. DFR allocations and entry) to make sure they make sense for our business.
10. Work closely with the client billing team to ensure that interactions and submission data are reflected correctly to produce invoicing that is correct and where issues arise, they are resolved promptly, and strategic fixes are put in place to avoid them in the future. Understanding commission sharing agreements is key to this process.
11. Undertake analysis to better understand research profitability and client efficiency. Monitor and manage research revenues from management of unbundled research payments through to analysis of internally unbundled research commissions.
12. Manage internal account review process at a frequent cadence with the business, formulating client specific strategies and action plans.
13. Administer the EU focus list, working closely with EMEA management teams, SRM, and research to determine client tiering changes.
14. Advise on CRM best practices for sales and research and work with client interactions teams, and client intelligence teams to implement a gold standard for data entry.
15. Mentor and manage any junior members of the team, educating and training them on all aspects related to the GE business.
16. Understand regulatory implications for clients and RBC and action with the appropriate team.
17. Represent RBC in an appropriate manner at all times.
18. Work according to RBC values, leading by example and driving the business forward.
19. Work closely with the e-commerce team to understand client needs and drive change.
20. Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
21. Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly.
What do you need to succeed?
1. Experience of European Equity markets and products through employment at a major sell-side institution.
2. Strong understanding of capital markets and the relationship between buy and sell-side institutions.
3. Good understanding of the implications of MIFID II on Equity Markets, including but not limited to research pricing, unbundling, and research consumption restrictions.
4. Educated to degree level or relevant experience.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Certified person.
7. High level of experience with client needs and objectives in order to provide innovative and effective solutions.
