Job Description
Great Bear is a leading 3rd party UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for international blue chip clients. We operate in over 7 million sq. ft. of warehousing and maintain a large modern commercial vehicle fleet, coupled with extensive value-added services.
We are seeking a MHE Trainer to join our team at DC420 on a full-time and permanent basis.
Shift: Monday-Friday Night Shift - Various start times.
Job Responsibilities
* Lead the site's Health & Safety culture effectively.
* Support site inductions related to MHE and manual handling.
* Assist in completing Risk Assessments (RA) and Safe Working Practices (SWP) with designated personnel.
* Deliver high-quality technical training to operational staff through various methods.
* Ensure all training is completed and documented in accordance with company policies.
* Develop and maintain a site skills matrix for MHE operators, ensuring their skills are satisfactory and refresher training is timely.
* Manage MHE operators' skill levels to minimize skill fade and reduce risks associated with inexperienced or infrequent users.
* Maintain the ongoing competence of MHE operators through refresher training, workplace assessments, and additional training following unsafe practices or incidents.
* Participate in investigations of on-site and MHE-related incidents or accidents.
* Proactively seek continuous risk reduction in MHE operations and develop learning briefings to prevent recurrence.
* Assist in creating Safe Systems of Work and conduct risk assessments for MHE activities.
* Identify hazards and implement control measures to eliminate or reduce risks, training staff accordingly.
* Review safety audit GAP analyses with management to ensure completion of all areas.
* Coordinate with operational management to cover all training requirements across shifts.
* Work as part of the MHE instructor team to ensure training compliance and documentation.
* Contribute to the wider management team by suggesting safety improvements and problem-solving.
* Compile data for KPI and monthly reports for management review.
Qualifications
* ITSAR or RTITB Instructor qualification.
* Experience with Reach, Counterbalance, VNA, Pivot Steer (Bendi), and PPT forklifts.
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Flexible approach to work and shift patterns for training purposes.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
