Mechanical Engineer - Design & Development
Due to increased workload, we are looking for experienced Mechanical Design & Development Engineers to work in all areas of the Product Life Cycles from Mechanical Future Concepts, Detailed Design and Qualification/Testing to Production and In-service Support. You will be leading the development of mechanical solutions on a wide variety of complex defence systems whilst collaborating with wider multi-disciplinary teams.

The Role:
1. Manage design evolution, DFMEA and optimising engineering solutions against requirements, within budget and timescales.
2. Provide leadership and technical direction on business programmes to ensure delivery of mechanical engineering solutions.
3. Work in accordance with the mechanical and company design lifecycles.
4. Formulate prototype designs and produce physical representations.
5. Provide key support to critical technical problem investigations and deliver effective solutions.
6. Chair, support and facilitate reviews and sign off release of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
7. Contribute towards continual improvement in product manufacturability through effective relationship building and design guidance / liaison with other engineering functions.
Experience:
1. Engineering, Technical or science Degree/ MSc qualified, or equivalent, with demonstratable aerospace, defence or related experience.
2. Demonstrate understanding of engineering first principles applied to problem solving and concurrent engineering practices.
3. Experience in mechanical engineering detailed design - first-hand experience of engineering design, analysis, tolerance studies (including GD&T) and generation of technical documentation.
4. Ability to lead teams and engage with the customer – demonstrating the ability of fulfilling customer and regulatory requirements (internal and external).
5. Able to communicate complex technical aspects clearly and concisely.
6. Appreciation of Systems Engineering approach and Project Management Fundamentals.
7. Business awareness - understanding of fundamental business principles, drivers and key customers with the ability to make effective trade-offs – cost, quality and schedule.
