First Achieve's Engineering Division are hiring a Senior Buyer for their client in Yorkshire who work within manufacturing and engineering sectors providing domestic and commercial hot water cylinders.
This position involves the sourcing & purchasing of raw materials for manufacturing and distribution, managing & developing relationships with key suppliers, negotiating pricing & contracts for goods and services to meet the company's operational requirements. You will work closely with the Purchasing Department/Material Planners and report into the Procurement Manager.
Permanent Role, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with salary up to £45k.
Role
Sourcing of raw materials & finished goods through new & existing suppliers.
Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers.
Assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers.
Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
Identify, manage and mitigate risk within the supply chain.
Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
Track commodity pricing, market trends & competitor strategies.
Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
Monitor forecasts to identify changes and to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
Liaising with all internal stakeholders, building and maintaining key relationships.Requirements
Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred.
A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a buying role.
Proven purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
Contract management and supplier experience.
Strong knowledge and understanding of supply chain management & commodity markets.
Experience or demonstrated knowledge of vendor development from a Lean perspective & Kanban implementation desirable
