Base pay range
My client is a large FMCG firm near Milton Keynes, looking to hire a Financial Controller in a critical finance leadership role for the firm. The firm is part of a larger group of companies and is supported by that parent company in terms of technology and necessary investment.
This role requires someone who is technically strong in terms of deep understanding of core accounting expertise. They will also need to be able to lead a team to get best in class BAU processes running smoothly whilst being able to identify and implement process improvements across the finance function. It will also be a key voice for finance leadership for the UK business within the wider group function.
Key responsibilities
* Oversight of the financial accounting / financial control team as well as AP, AR functions which are based offshore.
* Being a point of escalation for any relevant accounting issues.
* Oversight of the preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and internal accounting requirements.
* Preparation of group reporting packages for UK entities.
* Looking at budgets vs actuals and variance analysis.
* Preparation of stat accounts and leading the annual audit process.
* Cash flow reporting for UK entities.
* Ownership of the balance sheet, reconciliations and reviews.
* Business partnering with multiple internal stakeholders across the organization as well as external finance centre.
* Management of the team, hiring, motivating and performance monitoring team members to ensure best in class.
* Oversight of tax preparation and reporting.
* Identify and implement process and systems improvements wherever necessary.
Required skills and experience
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified or equivalent
* Prior experience managing finance and accounting teams within a large organisation.
* Demonstrable experience managing direct and indirect teams.
* Experienced in FMCG or manufacturing is advantageous.
* Experienced effectively managing senior stakeholder relationships at all levels across the organization.
* SAP Experience beneficial.
* Champion positive improvements/change projects for the finance function to build a best in class finance function.
* Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements and leading a team in these endeavors.
