Fitzgerald Jewellers are looking for an experienced Goldsmith/ Diamond Mounter to join their growing team in the heart of Canterbury, Kent.
The Goldsmiths in our team play an integral role in our business, working on the production of bespoke commissions such as engagement rings and fine jewellery. This side of our business is expanding rapidly so we require someone who is looking to join us at an exciting time and willing to go the extra mile. As well as bespoke manufacturing tasks, the role involves cleaning and assembling castings, resizing, repairs and polishing to name but a few of the tasks involved.
Youll be joining an award winning shop in our stunning workshop nestled in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral. We have a fully equipped workshop with good quality & well-maintained equipment. Your standards should be high and we expect you to always strive for the very best.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency and it is not an exhaustive list. We are a small, independent business so you will be required to assist and support the organisation in multiple areas but the primary duties and responsibilities of this role are:
1. Crafting bespoke commissions from scratch using precious metals and gemstones
2. Cleaning and assembling precious metal castings
3. Remodelling pre-existing jewellery
4. Resizing engagement rings, stone set bands, wedding bands
5. Laser repair work
6. Profiling and polishing
7. Creating stock for the windows
8. Maintaining and cleaning of equipment and workshop tools
9. Understanding of quoting for bespoke commissions and repair work
10. Communicating with customers to offer your professional advice
11. Liaising with other staff to complete assay and other administrative tasks
12. Clearly communicate with shop floor on progress of jobs
13. Manage your own time effectively to complete jobs to a high standard
14. Brand ambassador for Fitzgerald Jewellers
Ideal Candidate
15. Apprenticeship trained preferable
16. At least 3 years experience at a working bench
17. Competent jobbing skills
18. Laser-welding experience
19. Exceptional eye for detail
20. Strong work ethic
21. Ability to work quickly & efficiently
22. Confident in communication with workshop and shop floor
23. Good time-management skills
24. Great interpersonal and communication skills

The Details
The job offered is a full time role of 37.5 hours a week spread across five days working from 9am to 5:30pm with one hour lunch break, the workshop is open Monday to Saturday which gives Sunday and one other day off during the course of the week.
