We are a leading organisation committed to providing exceptional care and support to young people who have experienced childhood trauma, struggle with mental health challenges, or both. At Rhos Cottage, we create a nurturing environment where young people can thrive, and we are looking for dedicated, energetic individuals to join our team.
This role is an exciting opportunity to engage with young people in activities they love, including:
1. Football: Join in on-site activities to help young people stay active and have fun.
2. Fishing: Support outdoor activities by the lakes or on the beach.
3. Swansea City Football: Accompany young people to home games and provide support during matches.
A typical day at Rhos Cottage is varied and fulfilling, involving:
1. Supporting physical and emotional needs to ensure young people feel safe and cared for.
2. Being a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices.
3. Promoting independence through social outings, work, and school-based tasks.
4. Adapting support to individual needs, including assisting with decision-making and problem-solving.
5. Maintaining accurate records of activities, progress, and incidents.
6. General housekeeping duties, including meal preparation.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
1. A can-do attitude and the ability to stay positive even in challenging situations.
2. Resilience to work with young people who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs.
3. Previous care experience is helpful but not essential—passion for supporting young people is what matters most.
4. A valid driver's license and flexibility around shift times.
5. Compassion, empathy, and great communication skills, both written and verbal.
6. Reliability—being punctual and trustworthy is essential in this role.
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS with a barred list check.
What we offer you:
1. Eligibility for a "Blue Light Card" for discounts at a range of retailers.
2. 'Refer a friend' scheme—earn up to £1000 for every successful referral.
3. Clear career progression and the opportunity to gain valuable qualifications (97% of our managers were promoted from within).
4. Health Plan after probation.
