About The Role
Role: Support Worker ~ Location: Swansea ~ Hourly Rate: £11.60 - £12.00 (based on 39 hours per week, including days and sleep-ins)
We are a leading organisation committed to providing exceptional care and support to young people who have experienced childhood trauma, struggle with mental health challenges, or both. At Rhos Cottage, we create a nurturing environment where young people can thrive, and we are looking for dedicated, energetic individuals to join our team.
This role requires an energetic individual who can engage with children and young people in active pursuits such as:
1. Football: With a football pitch on-site, you'll have the chance to join in and help young people stay active and have fun;
2. Fishing: Whether down by the lakes or on the beach, you'll be supporting activities that take young people outdoors;
3. Swansea City Football: As a support worker, you'll also accompany young people to Swansea City's home games, providing support for flag bearing responsibilities while attending the matches.
A typical day in the life at Rhos Cottage is varied and fulfilling, including:
1. Supporting physical and emotional needs to ensure young people feel safe and cared for;
2. Being a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices;
3. Promoting independence by supporting a range of activities, such as social outings, work, and school-based tasks;
4. Adapting support to individual needs, including assisting with decision-making and problem-solving;
5. Maintaining accurate records of activities, progress, and any incidents;
6. General housekeeping duties, including meal preparation.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
1. A can-do attitude and the ability to stay positive even in challenging situations;
2. Resilience to work with young people who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs;
3. Previous care experience is helpful, but not essential—what matters most is your passion for supporting young people;
4. A valid driver's license and flexibility around shift times;
5. Compassion, empathy, and great communication skills, both written and verbal;
6. Reliability—being punctual and trustworthy is essential in this role.
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS with a barred list check.
What we offer you:
1. Eligibility for a "Blue Light Card" for discounts at a range of retailers;
2. 'Refer a friend' scheme—earn up to £1000 for every successful referral;
3. Clear career progression and the opportunity to gain valuable qualifications (97% of our managers were promoted from within);
4. Health Plan after probation.
