Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist
We are looking for a Highly Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team. This role will attract a health market supplement. Please note this is a term-time position and the salary advertised will be pro rata.
The post holder will manage and lead service delivery in the specific area of a complex needs special school. They will provide clinical support and supervision to other therapists and occupational therapy assistants. Key responsibilities include:
1. Planning the service within the specific area of work and providing strategic direction for others.
2. Contributing to the annual service team plan and other business development plans.
3. Working closely with MDT colleagues to ensure continuous improvement of the specialty.
4. Caring for a complex caseload of children and young people with a wide range of disabilities.
5. Reporting progress for clinical governance and audit purposes.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Min 5 years post qualification practice in working with children and young people with complex health needs (PMLD).
2. Extensive experience working in a special school environment.
3. Clinical skills working with CYP with cerebral palsy, neuromuscular conditions.
4. Extensive knowledge of special equipment, especially seating and wheelchairs/splinting and orthotics.
5. Exceptional report writing skills, especially EHCPs.
6. Managing junior members of staff and students.
7. Strong communication skills across agencies.
8. Strong safeguarding awareness.
9. Understanding and working within budgets and commissioning arrangements.
10. Active HCPC registration and documented evidence of CPD (maintained portfolio).
