We are currently recruiting a Deck Hand to join our team on board our Ro-Ro ferries on a fixed term basis until the end of March 2025.
Your duties will be of a general-purpose nature, to include loading and discharging of the vehicle decks, safe operation and maintenance of the vessels and their equipment, all the time providing excellent customer service in all areas, as required and directed by the Master.
In addition, and when directed, you may be required to assist in the loading/car parking operations ashore, or in the Food and Beverage operations on board.
Our shift system covers a 22-hour operation, 7 days a week, so we might need you to come in early, start late or even work overnight. Accommodation isn’t available on-board so it’s key that you reside a commutable distance from our Southampton terminals.
You must have previous experience as deck crew in a seagoing role, with preferably an EDH or AB certificate, and must be able to demonstrate a high level of Customer Service skill, ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable and safe experience.
You must be well presented, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work under pressure.
You will also be required to hold the below certifications:
* an ENG1 medical certificate
* Basic Sea Survival STCW
* Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting STCW
Previous experience as deck crew in a seafaring role holding an EDH or AB certificate is essential.
Closing date - 6th February 2025
