Mission & Events Coordinator (Children & Youth)
Are you a compassionate role model, who is self-motivated with a passion and understanding for children and young people?
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced people to join our team at Oriel Ministries who feel they may be able to contribute to some aspects of the roles below. You may be keen to help children/young people on a personal or group level, as an administrator, or someone with organisational skills. We are a Christian charity, formed in 2009, with the aim of helping children and young people reach their potential and deal with the pressures and problems of this modern society and understand the value of the Christian faith. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in leading and facilitating events, outreach projects, and schools work and so help make a lasting impact on a generation of young people.
Hours and remuneration will depend on experience and availability.
£24,180 - £28,860 FTE (full time equivalent)
The Roles:
1. Co-ordinate and support the planning and implementation of themed outreach children’s and youth events. This will include hosting, leading games, activities, workshops, small groups and front-led talks. Topics would deal with issues facing children today - relationships, bullying, self-worth, peer pressure, social media etc.
2. To lead, support and engage with children and young people through our outreach projects such as The Pulse Bus, our after-school club, The Shake Shop and the schools work based on Sound of Hope.
3. Facilitate termly youth events to learn more about the value of the Christian faith, provide strategies to help their personal development, and being part of a community hence acting as a resource for local churches in Cornwall and beyond.
4. Support administration, including liaising with local churches, schools and supporters using for example, Charitysuite to manage bookings, and enhance communication with the community at large.
5. Assist with fundraising, including collating information, writing of grants and bids and coordinating an annual fundraising and partnership event.
6. Participate in the delivery of church presentations and developing the relationship between churches and the ministry. (This may require having the availability to work some Sundays in the year).
7. Work alongside team members both as a team member and individually. Also coming alongside other team members and help with training where needed.
8. Work with the project leaders and ministry co-founders Chris and Nikki Uglow.
The successful candidate will oversee and help with our existing projects and events and will strategize with the team to help identify new ways to invest into the lives of children and young people across the South West.
Ideal skills and experience (but not necessarily a pre-requisite as training will be given where necessary):
1. Experience using Canva, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, PowerPoint & Word/Excel and/or any experience in editing, publishing or graphic design. We often produce flyers, posters, food & drink menus for The Shake Shop, videos and presentations to accompany talks, workshops and our school’s work.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
1. Commitment to the Christian faith and a willingness and ability to share their faith with the community.
2. Experience of organising community activities and/or events.
3. Ability to prioritise, organise and manage their own workload.
4. Good communication skills and an ability to develop effective working relationships.
5. A sound level of English – both spoken and written - and numeracy at GCSE level or equivalent.
6. Compassionate and able to demonstrate a high level of safeguarding knowledge and practice.
