CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST
(CANTERBURY - KENT)

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum (Pro-rata)
Contract: Substantive
Hours: Full-time: 10 Programmed Activities (DCC:SPA = 7.5:2.5)
On call: Frequency 1:14 Category A - 3% on call supplement
Location: George Turle House, 54 London Road, Canterbury, CT2 8JY
Qualifications needed:
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* CCT or equivalent
* Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it
* Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it
* Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to:
* Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs, across Canterbury.
* Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
* Work directly with young people and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.
* Participate in the on-call rota frequency is currently 1:14, with a 3% of basic salary, Category A on-call supplement.
* Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member whilst allowing them to work with their own initiative.
* Work alongside another full-time CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist and 0.5wte Specialty Doctor.
* Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals, and agencies.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* CCT or equivalent.
* Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it. Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it. Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
Desirable
* Masters or Doctorate degree. A management qualification. ECDL or equivalent qualification. Experience in strategic development.
Clinical Experience
Essential
* Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders under children including neurodevelopment disorders.
Desirable
* Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds. Working with interpreters and translators.
Knowledge
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence based management interventions.
* Up to date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines.
* An understanding of Leadership and evidence of how this has been put into practice.
Desirable
* An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities.
Clinical Skills
Essential
* Excellent clinical skills.
* Excellent communication skills both verbally and written. Familiarity with a wide range of theoretical and clinical approaches.
Desirable
* Clear thoughts on how to involve service users in service development and to provide a service which is experienced as being service-user friendly.
