PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the quality manager, the Dimensional Quality Engineer is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met. Interface with customer to ensure customer requirements relating to dimensional product quality are met.
Your Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Main interface to the customer (and internal measurement group) to ensure key dimensional characteristics are meeting the customer requirements.
Schedule, coordinate and report using cross-functional meetings to address internal and external dimensional concerns.
Interface with CMM Team Leads/Supervisors to ensure dimensional reports are addressing the key characteristics of the product (CMM and Hexagon programs).
Responsible for leading and validating corrective actions (on-time closures, repeat concerns, root cause, etc.) relating to dimensional concerns (both internal and external) through completion.
Perform analysis and make decisions on suspect dimensional product concerns using internal and external sources, as required.
Responsible for meeting customer targets, i.e., PPM, incident rates, RMA’s.
Conduct daily product data reviews to verify stability of the process.
Develop and implement dimensional improvement plans for responsible customer product.
Onsite visits with customer to address dimensional quality issues, as needed.
Responsible to support the reduction of RPN values in FMEA’s, as needed.
Interface with Drive support teams to ensure dimensional stability is being met as per customer requirements (mean shifts and SPC data).
Coordinate and track progress for interdepartmental studies.
Take additional training to maintain pace with new technology.
Ability to work any shift as requested.
Able to function effectively using computer software.
Competent understanding of fixture design concepts and ability to use basic metrology equipment.
Able to provide clear direction and training to individual and small groups of employees.
Support dimensional measurement systems as needed (CMM and Hexagon).
Perform other duties as required.
Reporting/KOI’s: Weekly dimensional product scores (PIST, etc.), RMA’s, quality alerts, PDCA, on-time completion of corrective actions, customer feedback/travel reports, product audits, PPM’s, customer-specific updates.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate properly with other departments.
Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The dimensional engineer quality works in a general factory environment. Some of the physical demands of this position include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down staircases, occasional lifting, and occasional stooping and bending.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:
Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector.
KNOWLEDGE:
Must Know Team Center Software.
(CMM, Hexagon and GOM Programs) Gom is the new hardware that we will use to measure parts.
Must know trigonometric functions, geometry and basic math.
Must possess a working knowledge of SPC.
Must possess advanced GD&T knowledge.
EDUCATION:
Associate Degree or equivalent combination of 3 years technical education and experience.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
