Sub-specialisation and MDT attendance will be determined following appointment in discussion with peers and service need. Direct clinical activity time will be spent in cellular pathology reporting, and preparation and presentation of MDTs where the provision of a specialist service to complement current post holders and the needs of the trust will be strongly encouraged. The Joint venture was formed in 2014 and all the technical laboratory staff are employed by iPP whilst the clinical staff remain employed by the Trust. The Joint Venture is one that is clinically led with the Trust taking clinical oversight of the Joint Venture service. The traditional laboratory departments are still in operation within Southend Pathology namely, cellular pathology, clinical chemistry, haematology (and blood transfusion), immunology and microbiology. The Trust is currently undertaking the process through which a single pathology service will be delivered to the 3 hospital sites of the merged organisation.
