Senior Quantity Surveyor (Electrical & Power)
Location: Edinburgh (Office & On-Site)
We have partnered with one of the UK’s leading multi utilities providers in seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with expertise in electrical and power infrastructure projects to join its team. This position is based in Edinburgh, with responsibilities split between office and on-site locations.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee cost management and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion. The role requires extensive experience in quantity surveying, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing complex projects. A key focus will be on maximising project profitability while upholding high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Procurement Management
• Manage the preparation, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts, including variations,
claims, and disputes.
• Ensure contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and client requirements.
• Oversee the tendering process, including bid evaluation and subcontractor selection.
• Negotiate contract terms to achieve optimal project outcomes.
Cost Management & Control
• Lead the development of accurate cost estimates and project budgets.
• Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing
variances.
• Implement cost control measures to ensure budgetary compliance.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and forecasts, providing insights on key cost drivers.
Risk & Performance Management
• Identify and assess risks such as cost overruns, delays, and contractual disputes.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Analyse project performance against budgetary targets and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide guidance on risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Skills & Experience
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Chartered status with RICS or CICES is essential.
• Extensive experience in Power, BESS, Substation, or Electrical projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and cost management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
