Job Description
We are seeking an Experienced Planning Lawyer to join a dynamic local authority legal team on an interim basis.
Key Details
* Start: ASAP
* End date: 15th August 2025
* Rate: £50 per hour (via umbrella or LTD company)
* Location: Remote/Hybrid working available (Council HQ: Oxfordshire)
* Hours: Full-time preferred (37 hours/week), flexible working considered
* Team: Legal Services, reporting to Senior Solicitor
The RoleYou will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice and services in planning law matters, including:
* Drafting legal agreements and policy advice
* Supporting planning-related litigation and inquiries
* Advising on highways, environment, and development matters
* Training officers and attending committee meetings
* Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision
Requirements
* Current Practising Certificate (Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or Barrister - England & Wales)
* At least 1 year PQE, ideally more
* Strong knowledge of Planning Law (and related fields such as Environment, Highways, Local Government Law)
* Local authority experience strongly preferred
* Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and provide concise, accurate legal advice
Desirable
* Familiarity with local government governance processes
* Confident advocacy and committee support experience
