Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing dynamic chemotherapy team as Chemotherapy Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP). You should have experience in delivering Systematic Anticancer Treatment (SACT) for haeamatology and/ oncology patients and you will be able to develop your skills as a nurse leader.
Ideally you need to be educated or working towards your Master level and have successfully completed both Advanced clinical assessment and Non-Medical prescribing modules. You will be expected to work autonomously at advanced level to deliver care for patients undergoing SACT treatment and to assess patients undergoing SACT treatment and manage side effects and prescribing independently. The post-holder will be responsible for staff competency assessment and contribute to personal development plan.
The candidate should have experience in SACT administration and have experience in working with either haematology/ oncology patients at band 7 or above. We will also welcome experienced band 6 staff with experience in either haematology/ oncology or SACT administration. In this case we will offer you a trainee post as band 7 and progress to band 8a once appropriate training has been completed. We have a dedicated ACP practice development team to help you with your professional development and they actively support you to complete further courses and our Chemotherapy Nurse Consultant will support you throughout your training.
Main duties of the job
They will run nurse-led clinics in chemotherapy day unit including pre-chemotherapy consultation. Lead in the management of extravasation including training and audit.
They will deliver safe and complaint with quality standard of SACT at local level and to report to Chemotherapy Nurse Consultant
Conduct SACT competency and skills assessments as part of yearly re assessment and skills.
Offer mentoring and supervisory support to all staff in relation to SACT training.
Deliver teaching and training locally, deliver full compliance to achieve competency assessment with implementation of digital SACT passport
Develop close and effective relationships with interdependent services: pharmacy; aseptic; clinical trial team; IV team; iMobile team etc including ongoing competency reviews and educational up dates.
Support Pre Chemo consultations Clinics to meet quality standards
Support lead chemo consultant in delivery of quality standards.
Support chemotherapy closer to home project.
