About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Ofsted Deputy Manager to join our dynamic team at Acorn House and Hazel House, both EBD homes under dual registration in London. As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the management and operational success of the homes, ensuring the highest standards of care for young people with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD). This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a supportive environment while positively impacting the lives of vulnerable children. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to support both homes’ day-to-day operations and create a nurturing, safe, and structured environment for the residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Registered Manager in the overall management and operation of Acorn House and Hazel House, ensuring the homes comply with Ofsted regulations and company policies.
Assist in the creation and implementation of individualized care plans for each child, promoting their emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being.
Supervise and lead a team of care staff, providing guidance, training, and ongoing support to ensure quality care delivery.
Foster a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment that encourages positive behavior and emotional growth for young people.
Ensure staff are well-trained and equipped to handle challenging behaviors and support the needs of children with EBD.
Participate in the recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff to maintain a high-functioning team.
Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures, care plans, and Ofsted standards.
Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and planning sessions, ensuring the views and needs of the children are at the forefront of all decisions.
Work flexibly across a variable shift pattern, covering 7 days of the week, and including evenings and weekends. Fixed shift patterns are not available.
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all residents by adhering to safeguarding procedures and monitoring the safety of the home environment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Must hold a Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare.
Prior experience working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD) in a residential care setting.
Sound knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding practices.
Experience in supervising and supporting staff in a residential care environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, staff, and external agencies.
Desirable Skills:
A full, valid UK driving licence (strongly favourable).
Experience in a Deputy Manager role or equivalent supervisory position.
Understanding of the emotional and behavioral needs of children in care.
Working Hours:
The role operates on a variable shift pattern across the 7 days of the week, including evenings and weekends. A fixed shift pattern is not available.
