THE ROLE:
Capture Artists are vital to the delivery of our projects, whether operating as primary capture on single player games or as part of a larger team for multiplayer capture.
You will demonstrate a strong understanding of game capture, capture project management, and trailer and content creation. You will need to be highly creative, collaborative, efficient, and capable of producing industry-leading capture and creative. Additionally, since Hammer Creative London is brand new, you will need to be versatile and open to wearing many hats.
We are essentially in startup mode in London and there will inevitably be scenarios that will require you to be quick thinking with creative solutions to problems we cannot currently foresee.
You’ll have the exciting opportunity to help shape and influence our company’s aesthetic and culture. This is a fully on-site role and you are expected to report to the Hammer Creative London office every day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Capture cinematic, compelling, and industry-leading video and stills for trailers, social content, and a broad range of other applications for AAA+ projects and beyond.
* Bring inspiration, knowledge, and insight to the capture team with consistency and enthusiasm.
* Create shots lists and documentation to support communication and cohesion between creative, editorial, graphics, and capture.
* Exhibit high-skill gameplay skills, knowledge, and presentational technique within capture.
* Engage with a variety of capture projects and work within various sizes of capture teams for both single-player and multiplayer assets.
* Support capture on projects you are not directly working on when asked.
* Work alongside the wider capture team, editors, creative leads, producers, designers, graphics artists, and beyond to develop bespoke styles and approaches to each asset.
* Work across a variety of engines, including UE, as needed.
* Consistently invest and improve in your knowledge of cinematic capture tools within engines, including Unreal Sequencer.
* Evaluate how much time will need to understand a new engine when encountered for a specific job.
* Demonstrate a consistent growth in technique and skills related to cinematic gameplay capture.
* Manage time wisely and maintain peak efficiency by staying in close contact with project producers and creative leadership.
* Play, explore, and break down the content and tools of games to know and share the DNA, capabilities, and opportunities therein.
* Respond to in-house and client feedback in a professional and timely manner.
* Evaluate how progress can still be made on a given task or project when technical issues are encountered.
* Respect and embody the values, standards, and culture of the Capture Department and Hammer at large.
* Mentor junior artists in the arts of game capture and trailer-making and help onboard new contractors and full-time capture artists.
* Be ready to take on new and unexpected challenges.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Experience as a capture artist, with experience of using video capture equipment and tools.
* Capable of capturing for a variety of game genres and applications.
* Strong cinematic eye.
* Passion for video games of all types.
* Basic knowledge of Unreal Engine required - knowledge of Unity or other proprietary game engines is a strong plus.
* Experience working with teams of various sizes.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong time management skills.
