Purpose of role
Reporting to the Head of Pricing & Underwriting (Accident & Health), the Senior Product and Pricing Analyst is responsible for the co-ordination and ownership of pricing activity for key clients of the Health and Dental insurance portfolios, in line with the corporate strategy. This includes ownership and management of our product collaterals as well as review of existing products and enhancing / control of product terms and conditions. The role will involve liaising with key internal stakeholders to obtain internal support for pricing as well as obtaining external client buy-in for both individual and corporate business.
As a Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for contributing to the schemes and product profitability. This includes building / enhancing existing pricing tools, setting base rates and managing scheme performance against targets. You will be responsible for tracking of claims and co-ordination of any mitigating actions required. Strong interest in data analysis is at the core of this role. This includes focus on interpreting and maximising data effectively and drilling down to relevant KPIs. These are released into monthly reporting and utilised in key pricing decisions.
Knowledge and interest in health insurance products is at the core of this role. This is a varied role demanding a good balance between data analysis / MI, product, customer and excellent communication skills. It is a real opportunity to contribute to the shape and execution of the next steps in Collinson’s broader Health line of business strategy.
Key responsibilities
Product
* Carry out product reviews, assess what changes needed to align / differentiate with the market.
* Keeping abreast of changes in existing products across the market.
* Compiling policy wordings, in conjunction with the Compliance department, to reflect the cover provided by the policy in line with the pricing interpretation & expectation.
* Demonstrating consistent adherence to local governance principles, primarily focussing on fair treatment of the end customer.
* For existing schemes, contribution to annual product reviews, utilising scheme performance data to propose and implement enhancements, determining impact on pricing.
* New product development from idea to launch – involvement and ownership of every stage of the product cycle, with a direct impact in the results for A&H.
* Supporting Account and Business Development and Marketing teams when creating / enhancing products, with a strong focus on customer need and customer communication.
* Exemplify best pricing principles by enhancing pricing models to inform business decision making, driving deeper insights for our clients.
* Champion and developing use of new tools to manipulate and present data more efficiently.
* Calculating, compiling and reviewing group experience rated quotations to clients.
* Co-ordination of annual renewal pricing & product reviews.
* Building management information outputs for monitoring key performance indicators.
* Monitor and analyse underwriting performance, utilizing market research to champion best practice.
* Working to achieve sign-off of new products and pricing by managing referrals into various internal and external teams, including reinsurance partners.
* Making recommendations where required to improve the current pricing approach, with a view to balancing top-line growth and bottom-line profitability.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Subject Matter Expertise
* Experience in insurance product / pricing with an understanding of Health insurance products.
* Ability to analyse and manipulate data to assist in pricing and underwriting decisions.
* Ability to articulate statistical and data trends into actionable insights and translate into easy-to-understand recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience of pricing new and renewing portfolios using product and pricing strategies to grow and manage performance based in multiple geographic regions.
* Experience in balancing different projects and priorities in front of various stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in Consumer lines (Health products preferred) Insurance experience in a similar role.
* Strong command of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word (intermediate/advanced).
* Broader awareness of insurance regulation would be advantageous.
* Educated to degree level in a numerate subject (Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Science preferred) or equivalent professional qualification.
