Specialist Teaching Assistant for Autism – ASD Advisory Team
Salary: £28,770 - £31,364 Per Annum
Contract Type: Fixed term - grant funded until 31st March 2025
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
Location of post: Port Talbot Civic Centre, Education, Leisure and Lifelong Service, Support for Learning Service, Port Talbot, SA13 1PJ

We are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual with the skills and experience necessary to actively contribute to the ASD Advisory Team within the Support for Learning Service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant, who is passionate about helping schools and supporting learners with social communication difficulties or ASD with associated difficulties e.g. anxiety.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in the team, in order to help these learners achieve the best possible outcomes.

Main Duties of the Post:
* Provide support in addressing the needs of learners with social communication difficulties and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with associated difficulties e.g. anxiety in mainstream secondary schools and specialist placements.
* Support staff in mainstream secondary schools and specialist placements.
You will have experience of:
* Working within a secondary school environment.
* Working with learners with social communication difficulties and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with associated difficulties e.g. anxiety.
* A thorough knowledge and understanding of learners with social communication difficulties and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with associated difficulties e.g. anxiety.
Ideally, you will have:
* NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
