Purpose of the role:
* Composite component and tooling design for F1 Race car
* You will be responsible for conceptual and detail design of composite parts and metallic parts and tooling, including the installations within the composite monocoque for the F1 race car to achieve solutions which optimises opportunities for composite structures, electrical and systems installations whilst providing an environment for the drivers to perform at their peak performance level.
* The role will involve understanding and developing the topology and mechanical specification of hoses and harnesses, creating CAD routings, box positions, and associated brackets, conduits, cooling ducts and mounting components; and any manufacturing tooling.
* Reporting to the Head of Monocoque Design
Responsibilities:
* Conceptual and detail design of composite car parts and tooling
* Conceptual and detail design of metallic car parts, jig parts and test jigs
* When required, to assist in design work related to bodywork, suspension, systems and transmission components
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or similar
* Good knowledge of racing car components and systems
* Understanding of composite and metallic materials and manufacturing techniques
* Experience in CAD modelling and drafting, previous experience of Catia V5 / 3DExp preferable
* Good PC skills – Word / Excel
* Experience or exposure of a motorsport environment beneficial
